This unique Rupert is accurately modelled on the Rupert bear which appeared in only 12-15 proof copies of the 1973 Rupert Annual. Through an oversight at The London Daily Express, the famous brown face of Rupert on the outer cover was changed to white. On learning this the artist Alfred Bestell was so outraged that he vowed never drew another Rupert Annual cover

This 28cm tall Steiff Rupert Bear is absolutely wonderful. He is made from luxurious brown alpaca and dressed in the famous Rupert clothes. He has yellow checked trousers and scarf, knitted jumper and brown shoes with black shoelaces. His face has appealing black eyes and hand embroidered mouth and nose. White label with red writing and famous Steiff button in ear. Limited edition of only 1973 pieces for the UK and Ireland.
