This very special bear is based on a Teddy bear that Steiff first designed in 1905. Appolonia is named after Appolonia Margarete Steiff, the founder of Margarete Steiff GmbH. 

 

Appolonia is made from sandy coloured pure mohair of finest quality, and has a small, feminine muzzle, and a unique, horizontally stitched brown stitched brown nose. She has brown claws and black button eyes. She is fully jointed for expressive posing. Appolonia has a gold-plated elephant button in honour of the Centenary of Steiff’s Button in Ear trademark. Every Steiff 2004 Limited Edition features the original Steiff logo button, a tiny elephant with an “S” shaped trunk.
